Beauty Defined
Beauty is a word that possesses a great depth of meaning. According to Dictionary.com, beauty is a combination of qualities – including shape, color, and form – that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially that of sight. The often-quoted proverb that boasts “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” tells us it is subjective and based on individual perception. Meanwhile, pop culture provides a different take on beauty.
In Beauty in the Beast, Belle inspires us to see that true beauty has nothing to do with outward appearances and is really about who we are within.
Singer/songwriter Alessia Cara takes it a step further and really seems to nail it. She empowers us to be reminded that we are beautiful just the way we are in her top-ten Billboard Hot 100 hit single Scars to Your Beautiful. The song touts the fact that we are all valid, worthy, and enough– both inside and out. And, that we don’t need to change a thing about ourselves, instead the world needs to learn to change its heart.
We couldn’t agree more. We believe we are all uniquely and wonderfully made. Each designed with a plan and a purpose – called to be the person we were created to be. All different and deserving.
These truths are motivators.
Our goal is to be the best version of ourselves while helping and inspiring others to do the same.
Because the fact of the matter is … simply BEING YOU … is how beauty is defined.
